CradleRock
Music Classes
The CradleRock music program is
taught by Lara Bergholdt and designed
for paren
ts who do not
compromise, but who want the best possible musical experience for their
babies and children up to 6 years of age. Our program motivates the child
through singing, dancing, storytelling, music and movement. Our classes have
been voted the best in the Bay Area by parents and received a "Lila
pick" (5 full stars of 5 possible) in the 2005 parents "Lila
Guide"
Our program
combines well-known Americana music with music from around the world.
Classical music is more prevalent than in any other early childhood music
program. Folk songs and lullabies are among the several different genres that we
will explore. Our recordings are professional and consists of all the songs
that we sing throughout the semester accompanied by my voice and piano. Our parental music packages
comprise only the best available materials (each student will receive a CD, a handmade,
environmentally friendly wooden
instrument and a booklet of songs that we sing in class with a little history
on the music). A
major difference between the sit and sing philosophy of many other music
programs and the CradleRock Music program, is that the kids will always have
something in their hands, whether it is instruments, dolls, balls or horses on
a stick. CradleRock will entertain their minds as much as their musical senses.
It entertains the wanderers of the class as well as the observers!
We
meet once a week for about 45 minutes.
Please select Class Schedule on the left hand side to view a schedule of classes
and enroll your child. During
class we sing, listen, read, dance and play instruments.
The curriculum combines international music of many genres and styles, including folk,
jazz, orchestral, vocal, and opera.
There will be a music appreciation section every week, which will include
classical composers. We also recite nursery rhymes to emphasize the continuous steady beat.
Children learn concepts such as steady beat, rhythm, pitch, lento and presto,
piano and forte, high and low, staccato and legato as well as many others.
Through structured play the end result is quite amazing!
